New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) Showing signs of approaching summer the mercury in the Capital today rose to 26.4 degree Celsius, slightly above from yesterday's 26.1 degrees.

Though the minimum temperature dropped to 10.8 degrees and clouds intersped at intervals in the mainly bright day, it failed to lower the temperature which rose to 26.4 degrees from yesterday's 26.1 degree Celsius.

However, as clouds stalked the skyline in the evening, the air became slightly chilly though no rains were reported from anywhere in the city not was presence of fog noticed anywhere.

Today's rise in mercury comes after a rise in the maximum and minimum temperatures in the Capital over the last two days, except for yesterday where it registered a drop in the maximum temperature brought about by Northerlies.

The weatherman has forecast a mainly clear sky likely to become partly cloudy with possiblity of light rain or thunder shower by night or tomorrow morning.

The minimum temperature would be around 13 degree Celsius, it said while adding that an approaching western disturbance was likely to cause isolated to scattered precipitation over plains of North West India.
