Reservation for migrants cancelled

Indore, Feb 24 (UNI) The Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has cancelled the state government orders granting reservation benefits to the state cadre IAS and IPS officers belonging to the SC and ST category at par with their native states.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Mr Justice J K Maheshwari, in an order issued on Thursday, issued directives for cancelling four circulars issued by the state government.

The directive came on a petition filed by Mr Ramprakash Pahadia and Akhil Bhartiya Anusuchit Jati Janjati Adhikar Mandal challenging the orders, The High Court directive will adversely affect candidates belonging to the Majhi and Meena tribal communities, who secured government job on reserved posts or got admission in medical and engineering colleges.

The state government, in an order issued on April 1, 1998, bestowed reservation facilities at par with their native states to the state cadre administrative and police officers. Besides, they were granted SC and ST certificates in the state entitling their wards to get government jobs and admission to medical and engineering institutions in reserved category.

The High Court also nullified the government order staying the move for dismissal from service and police action against employees belonging to Majhi and Meena tribes.
