PMC to support committee opposing Port develp project

Puducherry, Feb 24 (UNI) The Puducherry Munnetra Congrss (PMC) would extend full support to the Thengaithittu village committee opposing the port development project here, party spokesman K Lakshminarayanan, MLA, said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the committee had sought the support of PMC, following which the matter was discussed in the party forum and decided to extend support to them.

Stating that he had participated in the meeting of the committee yesterday, Mr Lakshminarayanan said in order to press the government to shelve the proposal, the committee would organise series of agitations.

While committee members would hoist black flags atop their houses on February 26, the PMC would hoist black flag on the party headquarters building on that day. The party volunteers would take part in the demonstration scheduled to be held on Monday evening, he informed.

He said the government should not be adamant in implementing a project, which would severly hit the people of Puducherry.
