Patna, Feb 24 (UNI) East Central Railway's Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO) A K Chandra today surrendered before Patna Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sushma Sinha, who had granted him bail in connection with a fraud case.

Mr Chandra was involved in issuing a press note at Hajipur on a Press Information Bureau (PIB) letterhead, without any authorisation.

The CJM had released Mr Chandra on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 10,000 and two sureties of like amount, as he was earlier granted anticipatory bail by district and sessions judge of Patna in the same case.

The press note in question contained materials to refute allegations levelled against the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad by JD(U) national spokesman Shivanand Tiwari for extending undue favour in increasing the rate of bedroll for passengers in the trains.

A case in this connection was lodged by Mr Tiwari on February 9.
