Hubli, Feb 24 (UNI) Functioning of 'Bhoomi' at taluk headquarters in Karnataka has been extended to 400 Hobli headquarters to enable the farmers to computerise their land records at the Hobli itself, State Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar said today.

Talking to newspersons here on the occasion of his completion of one year in office, he said it was proposed to provide the e-governance facility at another 400 Hobli centres in the State and these would be named as 'Nemmadi'.

Mr Shettar said it was also proposed to have city survey set ups in all cities and towns to help reduce and check the encroachment of Government and forest lands. The Government was also considering to increase the number of sub-registrar offices in Bangalore from the present six to 27 and to have Bangalore as one unit.

To a question, the Minister said the Ramaswamy House Committee that went into encroachment of Government land in and around Bangalore had identified 18,000 acres of encroached land.

To another query, he said the Government was seriously considering introduction of online registration of lands that would help reduce corruption.
