52 EVMs failed during Manipur polls

Imphal, Feb 24 (UNI) Altogether 52 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have failed during the three phases of recent Manipur polls, Chief Electoral Officer R R Rashmi today said.

During the first phase about 14 EVMs failed, 22 in second phase and 16 in the third phase. About 3000 EVMs were brought for the polls, he said.

The machines used in the state were different and slightly complex from the previous version, he added.

However, considering the large numbers of machines used, the number of defective machines were negligible, Mr Rashmi said.
