Powerful bomb seized at Asom-WB border
Kokrajhar, Feb 23 (UNI) A powerful bomb was seized from a car from Barobisa area of North Bengal along Asom border.
Police here informed that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), weighing about eight kg, was found inside a tiffin-box, kept in a suitcase, from a Maruti van after the driver was forced to open the suitcase on suspicion.
The vehicle had been hired at Barobisa and the suitcase was picked up at Pakriguri in Srirampuri, inside Asom border. The lone passenger of the vehicle, who had hired it, got the car parked on the National Highway-31 near St Anthony's School, in Kokrajhar district.
The driver got suspicious when the person, suspected to be a Muslim fundamentalist, did not return after a long time. He opened the suitcase and on finding the extremely heavy tiffin-box inside it, rushed back to Barobisa from where he had picked up the person.
The bomb disposal squad later defused the bomb.
Police suspected that the school was being targetted since school hours had just ended when the time the car parked near it.
