Arjun Munda demands stern action against miscreants

Ranchi, 23 Feb (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda today demanded stern action against the miscreants who raped 13 tribal girls of Jharkhand in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) on February 21.

In a letter to UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mr Munda demanded an inquiry into the incident.He further demanded punishment of the culprits and proper compensation to the victims.

About 13 female tribal labourers belonging to Ranchi, working in brick kilns in Sihoridih village in Ballia district of UP, were raped and manhandled by the armed miscreants. The miscreants also beat other labourers who resisted them.

Mr Munda said that earlier also such incidents took place in Rupwar Bhagwanpur area.

Meanwhile, state congress party chief Pratibha Pandey has demanded to bring the victims back to their homes and an inquiry into the matter.

She said that she had a talk with her UP counterparts and informed that high-level relief committee would soon visit the spot.
