Italian PM quits, president to consult politicians
ROME, Feb 21 (Reuters) Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi resigned today and President Giorgio Napolitano will hold talks with party and parliamentary leaders about the country's political future from tomorrow, said a presidential spokesman.
The centre-left prime minister offered his resignation to the president after suffering a major defeat in the Senate on foreign policy.
