Four men loot diamond unit, caught within two hours

Palanpur, Feb 21 (UNI) The police have arrested four people within a span of two hours after they struck a diamond unit at Dhundia Vadia area and looted diamonds and cash worth Rs 6.02 lakh.

Police said the four thieves were arrested on being alarmed by factory owner Jayanthibhai Prajapati (45) and his nephew Shaileshbhai Prajapati (25).

The robbers, armed with sharp weapons barged into the diamond cutting unit and injured Prajapati and his nephew greviously before decamping with the booty consisting of 83 karat diamonds worth Rs 5.82 lakh and Rs 20,000 cash at around 2000 hrs this evening, Police Superintendent Vipul Agarwal said.

The stolen booty is yet to be recovered, Agarwal added.
