Drop Port development project: PMC

Puducherry, Feb 22 (UNI) The Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) today urged the territorial administration to shelve the Port development project as it would be harmful to Puducherry.

Addressing a press conference here, party leader and legislator K Lakshminaraynan said the deepening of the sea near the port to enable the berthing of ships would result in the intrusion of saline water besides polluting the environment and affecting ground water here.

Urging the administration to drop the project for the time being and throughly analyse the entire process before executing it, he said adding this was the party's view also.
