AP Cong puts on brave face on poll debacle
Vijayawada, Feb 22 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader and Party Official Spokesperson Paladagu Venkat Rao today said his party was not at a loss in the just concluded municipal elections for Greater Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Hindupur local bodies.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Rao said the Congress won the Hindupur Municipality after 25 years. This was formerly a bastion of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Admitting the party faired poorly in the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation which was won by the Opposition TDP, Mr Rao said in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation the party could not get majority on its own due to internal disputes in the party.
He said Congress rebels who contested as independents on denial of party ticket had won only due to wide recognition among the people in their wards.
The party would take note of all these issues and take steps to prevent their recurrence.
