NCP-RPI(A) to contest ZP elections together
Mumbai, Feb 21 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Republican Party of India (Athavale) have forged an alliance for next month's zilla parishad and panchayat samiti elections.
Confirming the arrangement, NCP spokesman Madan Bafna told reporters that NCP had always tried to avoid the division of secular votes and hence had given the right to local leaders to work in cooperation with with other secular parties.
The NCP and RPI(A) contested against each other the recently held corporation elections. However, otherwise the two parties had always worked in alliance, he said.
