Karnataka CM to discuss Cauvery award with state MPs

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has convened a meeting of the Members of Parliament of the state tomorrow for apprising them of the government stand on the final award of Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal on water apportionment.

The Chief Minister, who is holding the meeting with Karnataka MPs will seek the views of the MPs on getting the best terms for the state and would make an appeal to defend and protect Karnataka's cause in both Houses of Parliament.

Karnataka Counsel Fali S Nariman and his team which fought the case before the Tribunal will assist the Chief Minister regarding the finer aspects of the 1000-odd-page final order pronounced on February 5.

Karnataka has been allocated 270 tmc of water out of 740 tmc of Cauvery water as against 419 tmc for Tamil Nadu and 30 tmc for Kerala and seven TMC for Pondicherry.
