JNNURM project report for Mysore to be ready by March-end
Mysore, Feb 21 (UNI) A Detailed Project Report, master plan and vision document for development of tourism in the entire Mysore region under the Centre's Jawaharalal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) would be ready by March-end, Deputy Commissioner S Selva Kumar said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said a preliminary meeting was held in his office. Stup Consultants Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, who have been hired for preparing the document, made a power point presentation of the draft plan before the stake holders of the project.
Mr Kumar suggested that all factors in the vision document be incorporated, irrespective of whether they could be realised or not. Focus was given to connectivity with other important tourist destinations in the State as well as upkeep of heritage structures in the city.
The meeting was of the view that the city's heritage status should be safeguarded while taking up development and old extension in the city should be maintained under the heritage status, besides creating heritage village here to attract tourists.
Mysore was one of the 63 cities in the country to have been selected under the JNNURM project for overall development over the next seven years, including upgradation of drinking water facilities, roads and doing away with slums in the city, besides tourism development with Rs 70 crore earmarked for the purpose.
The meeting was attended by the City Corporation Commissioner, Zoo Director, Zilla Panchayat CEO, Mysore, Urban Development Commissioner and major industrialistes.
