Delhi Election commisioner meets parties to discuss MCD poll dates

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Delhi Election commissioner S P Marwah today held a meeting with all political parties in Delhi to discuss possible dates for the forthcoming polls for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Speaking after the meeting, which was attended by five out of the six recognised parties in Delhi, Mr Marwah said while deciding the poll dates, a consideration would be given to the forthcoming CBSE examinations.

He said a meeting with officials of the Delhi Police was also held earlier today to discuss the security arrangements for the poll.

He said the notification of the polls was expected in three days time polls would be held 27 days after notification.

Among those who attended the all party meeting were BJP Delhi chief Harsh Vardhan, the Delhi Pradesh congress committee Chief Rambabu Sharma as well as representatives of the NCP, CPI and the BSP.

Mr Marwah said the code of conduct would be in force in Delhi from the day the notification was issued.
