BJP asks APs govt to stop ''prejudicial actions'' against Eenadu
New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Taking a snipe at Congress for the ''prejudicial attack'' by its Andhra Pradesh Government on the institutions owned by Andhra Pradesh media baron Ramoji Rao, the BJP today said such an attack was neither fair nor warranted.
BJP Spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the troubles for the Eenadu group started the day the Congress Government assumed office in Andhra Pradesh. ''It has been targetting the Eenadu group for not taking a 'conducive stand' to the Congress government in the state,'' he claimed.
The record of Congress party and media freedom was ''spurious'' throughout and it was not fair on the part of the AP Chief Minister to target the organisations owned by the veteran publisher. The Editors Guild of India too have condemned the raids on the Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) 'Margadarshi Finances' and the actions of the government was absolutely 'condemnable', Mr Prasad said.
He did not agree with a question that the action against the NBFC was the same as the raids conducted during the NDA regime against a real-estate titan, who too owned a magazine, contending that the two were different issues altogether and there could be no comparisons.
