Bengal Cabinet condoles Chittabrata Majumdar's death
Kolkata, Feb 21 (UNI) The West Bengal government today condoled the death of CITU All India General Secretary Chittabrata Majumdar and a two minute silence was observed at the cabinet meeting in his memory. As soon as the meeting began under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee, all ministers stood up and observed silence for two minutes before taking up the usual businesses.
Later it was also decided that the Budget session of the state Assmebly would commence on March eight. The budget is likely to be placed on March 16.
The meeting also reportedly discussed the proposal from the Home department to fill up about 60 vacancies of the state police force in Jalpaiguri district, official sources said after the meeting.
