Kolkata, Feb 21(UNI) Condemning the role of the management, All India Trade Union Congress(AITUC) today demanded immediate intervention of the state government in reopening the closed Bata outlets in the city besides preventing several anti-employees measures.

Squarely blaming the BATA India management for resorting to anti- employees policies, including the serving of termination notices to the mangers and other employees of 20 BATA shops in the city with only one-month salary as compensation, AITUC General Secretary Ranjit Guha here today alleged that such "unilateral step" was in "violation" of the recent bipartite agreement between the management and the employees and an attempt to 'de-recognise the Bata Shops Managers' Union'.

Seeking immediate intervention of the state government to resolve the issue and 'do justice to its pro-working class and workers- frendly image', Mr Guha ridiculed the BATA Management's decision to impose 365 working days norms for the employees in its own city outlets.

It was nothing but an attempt to reduce the number of employees,he said and called upon all other trade union bodies and the general public to rise in protest to force the BATA Management to reopen their shops and withdraw the employees termination notices immediately, Mr Guha emphasised.

Incidentally, the Bata India management, in an unprovoked action on Monday last, hung closure notices in 20 selected BATA shops in the city, including those in Gariahat,College Street,Grand hotel arcade besides terminating their managers and employees, numbering more than 200, and zeopardising their future.
