13 candidates file papers for eight council seats

Jammu, Feb 21 (UNI) As many as 13 candidates, including Mohammad Sharief Niaz who vacated his Bhaderwah Assembly seat for his brother Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad last year, filed their nomination papers for eight seats Legilative Council election in Jammu and Kashmir today.

According to Secretary Legislative Assembly and Returning Officer Mohammad Iqbal Ganai, 13 nomination papers for vacant legislative council seats were filed today.

Four nomination papers from Congress were filed by Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Ali Mohammed Bhat (Kashmir), Rajinder Singh Chib (Jammu) and Mohammad Amin Bhat whileas 2 candidates from PDP Murtaza Khan and Nizamudin Khatana filed their nomination papers.

The main opposition and largest single party in Legislative Assembly National Conference has filded Davinder Rana, M Y Taing and Nassir Khan.

Four Independent candidates Hassrat Hussain, Fayaz Ahmad Ganai, Om Prakash and Mohammad Din also filed their papers. Scrutiny of papers will be conducted tomorrow at 1100hrs in Legislative Assembly.
