Jethmalani-led Kashmir Committee revived
New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The Kashmir Committee, headed by former Law Minister Minister Ram Jethmalani which had become defunct a few years ago, has been revived with the induction of former RAW chief A S Dullat as a member.
The Committee, which had held dialogue with the Hurriyat Conference and other Kashmiri separatist groups, will immediately travel to Srinagar and initiate talks with the secessionists.
The other members of the committee include former Secretary in the External Affairs Committee V K Grover, Veteran journalists M J Akbar and Dilip Padgaonkar and senior lawyers Shanti Bhushan and Ashok Bhan.
With Mr Dullat and Mr Grover both members of the National Security Council (NSC), the Committee seems to have the support of the UPA government.
After the 2002 Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the Committee fell out of favour with the then NDA Government.
