Chennai, Feb 20 (UNI) Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today appealed to party workers not to visit her at her Poes Garden residence here on February 24 on her birthday and instead, they should concentrate on party work.

In a statement here, she said party volunteers organised many functions and events to celebrate her birthday out of love and affection for her.

But this time, they should avoid any extravaganza, Ms Jayalalithaa appealed.

Instead of wasting money on unwanted things, the party workers, to the best of their ability and capacity, should provide free meals to the poor and render assistance on the occasion.

She also exhorted party volunteers to take up party works like refurbishing flag posts and ensuring party flags flew in nook and corner of the state, starting from state headquarters down to tiny villages.

Besides, they should also strive to build party offices in all district headquarters, towns and municipalities. They should launch the work immediately and when she turned 60 in 2008, the construction work on these offices should be completed and they should start functioning.

This kind of work would give her immense satisfaction and happiness and would be the real birthday gift the party workers could ever give, she said.
