Copper declines; lead ingots rises

Mumbai, Feb 20 (UNI) Copper declined on poor demand while lead ingots rose on better buying support and London Metal Exchange moved slightly downwards, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange sai today.

In the ferrous category, copper heavy came down by Rs 200 per quintal on poor demand.

In the non-ferrous category, copper wire bars also eased by Rs 300 per quintal on sustained heavy selling pressure. But lead ingots moved up by Rs 200 per quintal on increase of fresh demand.

Tin slab also rose by Rs five per kg on improved demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 30,000, copper utensils - Rs 28,000, brass utensils - Rs 22,900, brass cuttings - Rs 24,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,800.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 33,000, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,400, zinc slab Rs 17,800, lead ingots - Rs 7,900, tin slab - Rs 635 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,950 (per kg).
