Register case against Pinarayi: Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 19 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today said the government should register a case under the Arms Act against CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan for possessing live bullets.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said according to procedures Mr Vijayan should have handed over the bullets, along with the gun, while submitting his application for renewing the licence.

A case should also be registered against the official, who accepted the gun without bullets.

He said the government should conduct proper investigation to bring out all the facts on the ''bullet controversy''.

Mr Chandy said Mr Vijayan should disclose details on how he came to be in possession of the gun and bullets.

He alleged that the LDF government was not yet ready to reduce the prices of essential commodities though the Centre cut fuel prices twice.

Demanding the government take effective steps to check the price hike, he said the measures taken by the government were quite ineffective to arrest the price spiral.
