MPHC notices to govt on Ramdev
Jabalpur, Feb 19 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notices to the state government on a public interest plea challenging the proposed allotment of about 50 acres on the Narmada's Lamheta Ghat in Jabalpur district to Yoga guru Ramdev.
Acting on a petition by Bhedaghat panchayat area's Rewashankar Upadhyay and Dileep Yadav, justices Deepak Verma and Rakeshchandra Mishra issued the notices to the Secretary (Revenue), District Collector (Jabalpur) and others who are to reply within four weeks.
Petitioners' Counsel Rajendra Tiwari submitted that a two-km long and 500-m wide stretch on Lamheta Ghat was being used for several years by local villagers for grazing animals.
''The government proposes to set up a dinosaur park on this stretch where the Ghugra waterfall is a centre of attraction. It will be improper to allot this land for establishing the Patanjali Peeth,'' the advocate said.
