Haryana orders probe in Samjhauta tragedy
Chandigarh, Feb 19 (UNI) The Haryana Government has ordered an inquiry into the Samjhauta Express tragedy which claimed 66 lives and left 13 injured.
''An inquiry has been ordered to look into the circumstances leading to fire in two compartments of Samjhauta Express train near Diwana Railway station between Panipat and Samalkha on Delhi-Ambala railway line last night,'' Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said while talking to reporters in Panipat today.
Mr Hooda said the investigation had already commenced and all facts concerning the tragic and painful incident would be revealed only after intensive investigation.
Meanwhile, Haryana Director General of Police R S Dalal said that a general alert had been sounded in the entire state in the wake of the train blasts.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration and not to touch any unclaimed baggage or object. ''In case they find any unclaimed baggage, they should quickly inform the nearest police station,'' he added.
