GVMC polls begin on dull note, pick up momentum

Visakhapatnam, Feb 19 (UNI) Polling in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) began at 0800 hrs here today on a dull note but picked up later.

According to official sources, though the polling percentage stod at 20 at 1100 hrs, long queues could be seen in Division Nos 68, 11, 13 and 71.

Police had made elaborate security arrangements with more than 3,600 police personnel deployed in the city for peaceful conduct of the polls.

The city task force police meanwhile detected a huge quantity of unauthorised liquor stocks in the early hours of today.

More than 10,500 bottles were seized from a godown in the city and five persons arrested in this connection.

GVMC has 72 divisions with 11.36 lakh voters.
