Forces against peace process behind tragedy: Patil
Panipat, Feb 19 (UNI) Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said the forces opposed to the India-Pakistan peace process were behind the Samjhauta Express tragedy in which 64 people were killed and several injured.
Talking to the media after reaching the incident site, Mr Patil said, '' This is the handiwork of those who do not want us to strengthen the relations with some country.'' Strongly condemning the incident, he said explosives appeared to have been used in the incident.
Expressing condolences to families of those killed, he said the Home Ministry will decide the compensation to be given in consultation with the Railway Ministry.
Home Secretary V K Duggal said sabotage could not be ruled out.
