BAMU awards Phd for a thesis on Pranayama

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 19 (UNI) The Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) has awarded PhD for the thesis entitled 'Role of Pranayama, Meditation and diet in certain psychosomatic disorders' submitted by Dr Giridhar Madanrao Karajgaonkar.

In his thesis Dr Giridhar Karajgaonkar concluded that strain is the basic of any disorder or diseases and the it was necessary to generate more energy to keep away the diseases and 'Pranayama is a solution to that.

According to Dr Karajgaonkar twelve different Pranayamas of the total 28 pranayamas can cure four commonly noticed disorders i.e.

hypertension, diabetes, depression and obesity.

Talking to reporters here today, Dr Karajgaonkar said that there has been an awareness among the masses about the pranayamas but said that there was no seriousness about the non-medico exercise among the people.

Dr Giridhar said that he would like to initiate a movement to make the pranayama one of the essential tool of fitness among every individual.
