7 hurt as rope gives away

Puducherry, Feb 19 (UNI) Seven people were injured when a tug rope used to pull a mechanised boat which sank in the sea, broke at Pannithittu near here this morning.

According to police, four fishermen ventured into the sea last night in a mechanised vessel owned by Anbarasu of Pannithittu.

The boat was trapped in a strong waves and sank.The four occupants swarm to safety.

This morning, about 200-strong crowd gathered on the shore and pulled the boat to bring it to the shore. However, the rope broke injuring seven people who were admitted to a private hospital at Kirumambakkam.

Later,they managed to bring the boat to the shore. The loss was estimated around Rs two lakh.
