US military helicopter crashes in Zabul province

Kabul, Feb 18 (UNI) A US military helicopter crashed in the Southern province of Zabul today, but the number of casualties are not known.

The helicopter crash was followed by contending claims of the cause of the crash.

A Taliban spokesperson claimed that the Taliban had brought down the helicopter with a missile strike launched from Helmund. The ISAF spokesperson has, however, contested this saying that the pilot had radioed in to inform that he was having engine problems before the crash.

The area of the crash - near Bazargan village of Shah Joi district of the southern Zabul province has been cordoned off by Afghan and international troops.
