''Poor road and air connectivity had been the crux of slow pace ofdevelopment in the entire North East, particularly Arunachal Pradesh, prompting Mr Apang to plead to the Centre for a pragmatic approach forimproving connectivity of this land-locked sensitive border state.

This led the Centre to chalk out a multi-pronged strategy in the11th Plan entitled 'Bridging Divides: Including Excluded' as itsthrust, in a bid to start a new era of economic development in theregion.

Completion of the airport would make Arunachal a high potentialtourism sector in the global tourism map.
