Bharti to unveil Retail's roadmap

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) In a bid to capture a major chunk in the Indian retail space, Bharti enterprises will unveil its strategic roadmap here tomorrow.

The roadmap will decide the company's position in the country's retail market worth 300 billion dollar where one of the world's largest retail chain Wal-Mart is betting big on its entry.

Besides Bharti, other players including Reliance, Adani and Subhiksha are already operating in this particular market.

Reliance has already launched several such outlets to sell vegetables and farm products and has ambitious plans lined up and has announced to open stores in 20 major cities and to follow it up by diversification in lifestyle and hypermarkets.

Adani Retail, the largest supermarket chain of the Western India operates in nine cities across the State of Gujarat with the chain of 47 stores.

It plans to reach a total 19 cities with the store strength of 60 plus in the state of Gujarat and to expand its operation in the neighbouring states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

Subhiksha which has around 500 outlets all over the country plans to double its market chain by the end of this year.
