TN cabinet meets
Chennai, Feb 17 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu cabinet chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today discussed in detail the Cauvery issue in view of an all-party meeting to be convened by the government to discuss the matter on February 19.
In a meeting at the Secretariat, the Cabinet discussed shortcomings in the final award of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal, pointed out by Mr Karunanidhi.
The Cabinet is also believed to have discussed budget 2007-08, and the law and order situation in the wake of recent confiscation of arms and ammunition and attempts to smuggle arms, involving Sri Lankan Tamils.
This was the first Cabinet meeting after the change of portfolios effected by the Chief Minister last week.
The meeting lasted for about two hours.
