Srinagar experiences light snowfall and rain
Srinagar, Feb 17: The upper reaches in the Kashmir valley experienced heavy snowfall while Srinagar city and its adjoining areas had light snow followed by rains.
However, the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway was open for one way traffic despite rains at several places while the 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway remained closed since November 15 last year due to heavy snowfall.
The upper reaches in the Kupwara and Baramulla districts in North Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall early this morning.
Reports of snowfall were received from the holy Amarnath cave and its periphery since last evening.
Srinagar and its adjoining areas had light snowfall early this morning which was followed by rains for about two hours.
A number of areas, including Budshah Nagar, Natipora, Banapora, Nowgam, Bemina, Mathan and Padshah Bagh were under water because of poor drinage system, making the movement difficult.
The weather become warm again after sun came out from behind the clouds this afternoon.
