Snow and rain in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 17 (UNI) Srinagar experienced light snowfall and rain early this morning.

Traffic was allowed on the 300 km Srinagar-Jammu National Highway today. A one-way route operated from Jammu to Srinagar.

People woke up to a snowy day and roof tops and trees were covered white. However, snow was soon followed by rain thus disrupting normal life.

A number of areas, including Budshah Nagar, Natipora, Banapora, Nowgam, Bemina, Mathan and Padshah Bagh were flooded because of poor drainage system.

A report from Baramulla said no rain and snow occured in Baramulla and other towns in north Kashmir.

Similar reports were also received from Anantnag.

However, the upper reaches in Kupwara and Baramulla experienced fresh snowfall.

Reports of snowfall were also received from the holy Amarnath cave and its periphery since last evening.
