Showers bring down temperatures in city

Chennai, Feb 17 (UNI) A brief showers brought some cheers to the Chennaiites this morning, thanks to an upper air trough.

The showers were a welcome relief to the people, who were sweltering under heat for the past one week, well ahead of the summer.

Weather office sources here said the showers were because of an upper air trough, extending from Orissa to South Tamil Nadu.

It would be generally cloudy in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry with one or two spells of shower or thunder showers during the next 24 hours.

The city and its suburbs would also have a pleasant weather during the time, the sources said.
