Road and interupted power supply resumed
Shimla, Feb 17 (UNI) The Snow-covered road to Chopal and Narkanda has been opened for heavy vehicles from today.
The snow on Chopal and Narkanda road had cleared and the food items and essentitial commodities were being provided through direct route to Chopal, the Sub-District Magistrate, Mr D D Sharma, told reporter here today.
Meanwhile, only light vehicles were plying to Rohru and the snow covering the road was expected to be removed soon. The road heading to Chopal was blocked due to heavy snow at Khidki and Chabi on last Sunday. He said the people continued to face the inconvenience in their movement in the remote parts cut off by the snow, but hoped that the areas would be cleared soon.
A spokesperson for Himachal State Electricity Board, Mr Anurag Thakur, also told mediapersons that power supply in all snow-bound places of the state had been resumed.
Heavy snowfall had caused huge losses to the State Electricity Board, he said, adding both the lower tension lines and high tension lines were damaged in the remote regions which had remained cut-off from the rest of nation for four or five days.
