Woman constables to have a makeover
Patna, Feb 16 (UNI) State women constables are going to witness a makeover as Bihar government is mulling on the proposal to attire the shirts and trousers instead of sarees.
In a letter to state Director General of Police Ashish Ranjan Sinha, Inspector General (Patna zone) Rajvardhan Sharma had pointed out that sarees proved to be a deterrent for women constables in carrying out their duties.
He also stated that central police organisations besides other state police forces allowed their women constables to wear shirts, and trousers.
'' When women police personnel from ASI to IG and other senior rank officers are allowed to wear these clothes, there is no reason why the same dress code cannot be applicable for women police personnel holding the rank of constables and havildar'' Mr Sharma maintained.
He said such a dress code would make women constables more confident and confortable while discharging duties. Their image would also get a boost as well, he added.
