Two long distance volvo bus services launched

Kolkata, Feb 16 (UNI) To meet the growing demand of comfortable long distance bus travel, two single stretch Volvo bus service from Kolkata to Visakapatnam and Kolkata to Guwahati were intoduced today. Minister of Transport and Sports Subhas Chakraborty inagurated the two Royal Cruiser service at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

The single stretch Kolkata-Visakapatnam and Kolkata-Guwahati via Siliguri would cover 900 km and 1077 km respectively.

The fully air-conditioned Volvo buses were Euro-III complaint and have kneeling mechanism and pneumatically operated doors for the benefit of the aged and physically challenged persons, sources from RC said.

There are only 45 seats with individual reading lamp to each seat. Superior interior panel, tinted glass windows, large luggage space in three compartments add to the overall comfort of the interior, sources added.

The RC volvo bus service was launched in Kolkata by the Kaushik Logistics on September 17, 2006. Currently RC connects as many as seven states and 3000 sq km on round the clock operation. It also offers customized and reserved charter services for corporate, individuals, tour assignments, consulates and others.
