Stardust Awards function to be held on Feb 18

Mumbai, Feb 16: Continuing its tradition, Max Stardust Awards function will be held here on February 18 with Bollywood heartthrobs vying for the top honours.

The ceremony to be held at MMRDA grounds will have awards for 17 categories namely star of the year (actor), star of the year (female), dream director, superstars of tomorrow (male), superstars of tomorrow (female), breakthrough performance (female), the young menace, hottest new film, hottest young filmmaker, standout performance by a lyricist, new musical sensation (female), new musical sensation (male), standout performance by a music director, best actress in a supporting role, best actor in supporting role, best actor in a negative role, a release here today said.

Actors Hrithik Roshan (Dhoom II/ Krrish), Salman Khan (Jaan-e-Mann), Sanjay Dutt (Lage Raho Munnabhai), Saif Ali Khan (Omkara), Shah Rukh Khan (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna) will compete for star of the year award.

Among the actresses, Aishwarya Rai (Dhoom II), Kajol (Fanaa), Kareena Kapoor (Omkara), Rani Mukherjee (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna), Mallika Sherawat (Pyar Ke Side Effects), are in the race for the star of the year (female) award.

Karan Johar (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna), Rakesh Roshan (Krrish), Nagesh Kuknoor (Dor), Rajkumar Hirani (Lage Raho Munnabhai), Vishal Bharadwaj (Omkara) and Rakeysh Mehra (Rang De Basanti) have been nominated for the dream director award.

Shiney Ahuja (Gangster), Ranveer Sheory (Mixed Doubles), Parveen Dabas (Khosla Ka Ghosla), Siddharth (Rang de Basanti), Abhay Deol (Ahista Ahista) will be in fray for superstars of tommorrow (male) award given to a new actor in a lead role.

Superstar of tommorrow (female) award will be chosen among Vidya Balan (Lage Raho Munnabhai), Katrina Kaif (Humko Deewana Kar Gaye), Kangana Ranaut (Gangster), Soha Ali Khan (Rang De Basanti), Udita Goswami (Aksar), Vipasha (I See You).

Gul Panag (Dor), Amrita Prakash (Vivah), Minissha Lamba (Corporate), Bhumika Singh (Aap Ki Khatir) and Masumi (Woh Lamhe) have been shortlisted for the breakthrough performance award (female). This award is given to new actresses in supporting role.

Young performers making an impact in negative role will receive the young menace award. The nominations in this category are Rehaan Engineer (Bas Ek Pal), Deepak Dobriyal (Omkara), Mridula Chandrashekhar (Naksha), Shaad Randhawa (Woh Lamhe).

Five movies in race for the hottest new film award are Omkara (Kumar Mangat), I see You (Mehr Rampal), Being Cyrus (Miracle films, Serendipity films), 15 Park Avenue (SPS Films), Yun Hota to Kya Hota (Cat Films). A new director on the rise will receive the hottest young filmmaker award. The contenders are Anurag Basu (Gangster), Dibankar Banerjee (Khosla Ka Ghosla), Homi Adajania (Being Cyrus), Sanjay Gadhvi (Dhoom 2), Saket Chaudhary (Pyar Ke Side effects), Shirish Kunder (Jaan-e-Mann).

Mir Ali Hussain (Yeh Hausla-Dor), Jaideep Sahni (Chak De Phattey-Khosla Ka Ghosla), Nasir Faraaz (Koi Tumsa Nahin-Krrish), Vijay Akela (Dil Na Diya-Krrish), Virag Mishra (Zinda Hoon Main-Zinda), Subrat Sinha (Tumsa Yoon Milenge-Ankahee) have been nominated for a standout performance by a lyrcist.

New musical sensation (female) nominations are Tulsi Kumar (Shab-e-firaaq hai-Chupe Chupke), Kavita Sheth (Mujhe Mat Roko -Gangster), Anouska Manchanda (Golmal Golmal-Golmal), Rekha Bharadwaj (Namak Ishq Ka-Omkara), Anmol Malik (Agle Janam-Umrao Jaan).

New musical sensation (male) nominations for new talent in playback singing are Zubeen Garg (Ya Ali-Gangster), Naresh Iyer (Masti Ki Patshala-Rang De Basanti), James (Bheegi Bheegi-Gangster), Neeraj Shridhar (Bhagam Bhag-Bhagam bhag), Himesh Reshamiya (Jhalak Dikhla Ja-Aksar).

Similarly, standout performance by a music director award nominations are Dhruv Dhalia (Khosla Ka Ghosla), Vivek Philip (Bas Ek Pal), Shibani Kashyap (Zinda), Mithoon (Bas Ek Pal), Shameer Tandon (Corporate) and Salim Suleman (Dor).

Nominations for the best actress in a supporting role are Ayesha Takia (Dor), Preity Zinta (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna), Sonali Kulkarni (Taxi No 9211), Ratna Pathak Shah (Yun Hota To Kya Hota), Kirron Kher (Rang De Basanti), Konkana Sen Sharma (Omkara).

Nominations for the best actor in supporting role are Abhishek Bachchan (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna), Arshad Warsi (Lage Raho Munnabhai), Dilip Prabhavalkar (Lage Raho Munnabhai), Amitabh Bachchan (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna), Nana Patekar (Taxi No 9211).

John Abraham (Zinda), Esha Deol (Ankahee), Boman Irani (Lage Raho Munnabhai/Khosla Ka Ghosla), Saif Ali Khan (Omkara), Shah Rukh Khan (Don) are in race for best actor in a negative role.

The event will be telecast on Set Max on March 3 at 2100 hrs.
