MLC polls: CPI demands three seats

Hyderabad, Feb 16 (UNI) The Communist Party of India today demanded that the Congress party should give at least three MLC seats to the party in the elections to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council.

CPI State Secretary K Narayana, who had held one round of talks with Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Pradesh Congress President K Keshava Rao, told UNI that the Congress party should be liberal in accommodating its allies.

The Congress should facilitate election of at least one CPI nominee from the State Assembly and two from local authorities to the Council, he maintained.

Expressing concern over price rise, he told reporters earlier that the state government should take immediate steps to bring down the prices of essential commodities by taking stringent action against hoarders.
