Jet fire claims Nilgiris cup

Bangalore, Feb 16 (UNI) Second favourite Irfan Ghatala's ward 'Jet Fire', piloted by Jockey Suraj Narredu, won the 'Nilgiris Cup', the main event of the winter meeting held here today.

The winner is the joint property of M/s D Shailesh Shivaswamy, Dayananda Pai, P L Shivashankar and S Mohan Raju.

Trainer B Prithviraj, Jockeys Y S Srinath and K P G Appu scored a brace each.

Punters had a bad day, with none of the favourites obliging in a card of eight events. However, four favourites managed to get the second place.
