CPI (M) holds demo protesting the dept

Puducherry, Feb 16: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) here today held a demonstration before the PWD chief engineer's office to protest the alleged irregularities in the department.

The party alleged tar roads were being re-laid over roads in a very good condition thereby leading to wastage of government funds.

Authorities gave permission for digging up freshly laid roads which would be again set right by the PWD, benefitting officials and contractors, they alleged.

It also said no action was taken against officals charged with corruption. Instead they were being promoted and projects worth several crores sanctioned to be implemented under them.
