Mysore, Feb 16 (UNI) The agitation by farmers against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal in the Cauvery basin districts of Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar continued to affect vehicular traffic on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, today.

Agitators continued to resort to road blockades at Gejjalagere, Boodanur, Pandavapura, Srirangapatna, Mallavali and other places in Mandya district. The KSRTC services were affected for hours together. The Rajasthani Association members took out a procession in the city and staged a dharna for some time. The Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi continued its relay hunger strike at Silver Jubilee park.

In Mysore, the Cauvery Kriya Samithi continued its dharna in which noted writer D J Javare Gowda participated. Mr Gowda urged the MPs from the State and Legislators to take up the issue seriously and demonstrate their strength in front of Parliament, if necessary.

Otherwise, he would launch a hunger strike in front of their houses, he warned.

Intellectuals and experts who participated in the meeting held yesterday to discuss the award suggested that the Government highlight the shortcomings while filing its review petition before the Tribunal.

No untoward incident was reported from any part of the Cauvery basin districts, police said.
