BJP asks defected BSP MLAs to resign on ''moral grounds''

New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) Supporting the Bahujan Samaj Party's claim that 24 MLAs, who had defected to Samajwadi Party, should also be disqualified like 13 others, BJP today asked them to resign ''on moral grounds''.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the Supreme Court could not technically disqualify these MLAs as their names did not figure in the petition but had given broad indications that they too should have been disqualified for their deeds.

Asked if UP BJP Chief Kesri Nath Tripathi, the then speaker of the state Assembly should also resign for delaying a decision on defection of MLAs, he said the court had not criticised speaker's decision.
