Russia against sanctions on Iran, for talks - RIA
MOSCOW, Feb 14 (Reuters) Sanctions on Iran are not a means of solving the problem of its nuclear programme and Russia will support a United Nations resolution that will kick-start negotiations, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted by RIA agency as saying today.
''Resolutions and sanctions are not what we need to focus on. We need to focus on finding a way out of the so far dead-end situation and creating conditions for starting negotiations,'' Lavrov told journalists aboard a plane from New Delhi to Abu Dhabi.
''If a new resolution helps to start negotiations, we will appreciate and support it.'' Reuters KR DB2334
