YSR says wife upset with Oppn behavior

Hyderabad, Feb 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today revealed his wife, too, was very much upset with Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu for 'intimidating' Speaker K R Suresh Reddy during the course of debate yesterday.

''My wife does not know much politics. She asked me what you people are all doing when Mr Naidu is intimidating the Speaker,'' Dr Reddy said while intervening during the Question Hour.

When the TDP members continued to disrupt the Chief Minister's speech, the Speaker angrily retorted ''I cannot act according to your dictum. I will not allow this House to be held to a ransom.'' He ruled the Chief Minister was entitled to intervene at any point of time.

As the TDP members continued to disrupt the proceedings, the Speaker made it clear his ruling could not not be questioned and made references to rulings by the previous speaker and as also to rules and procedures.

''It is very unfortunate the main opposition party is disrupting the proceedings,'' the Chief Minister lamented, asking the Speaker to be stern with the members either from the ruling party or Opposition if they stalled the proceedings, even as the TDP members were on their feet protesting Dr Reddy's observation.

''When the ministers do not give proper reply, you are free to pull them up,'' he told the Speaker, adding when ruling or Opposition party members did not not heed to his directions to maintain order, he could either adjourn the House or name the members concerned so that they could be suspended.

Expressing unhappiness over the House not not getting enough time for questions posed by the members on various issues following disruption of the proceedings by the Opposition, he suggested those disrupting the proceedings during the Question Hour could be suspended at least for the Question Hour.

Upset with the behaviour of the TDP members who wanted withdrawal of cases registered against a party MLA, the Chief Minister wanted to know if without giving proper notice on the nature case it was proper on the part of the Opposition to make such a demand.
