Ultras free kidnapped Dimasa trader

Silchar, Feb 14 (UNI) Suspected anti-talk Dima Halam Daoga (Black Widow) rebels set a kidnapped trader belonging to Dimasa community free tonight after a weeklong captivity, police said.

Nabaranjan Barman, an affluent trader and a resident of Kumacherra in Cachar district of Asom, was abducted by a group of 12 suspected armed DHD (Black Widow) rebels on the midnight of February 7 at gunpoint from his home.

Police said the kidnappers released the trader at Molong-Diphucherra, a hamlet near Cachar-NC Hill district border tonight, from where family members and security personnel escorted him to his residence after tracking, about 35 km of hilly stretch.

Police said continued operation along Cachar-NC Hills border was on since the kidnapping of Barman.

Neither police nor family sources confirmed about payment of any ransom for his release.

Nabaranjan is the younger brother of Noboda Barman, chairman of Cachar district Integrated Tribal Development Project and a senior Congress leader.
