Two sentenced for violation of Copyright Act
Puducherry, Feb 14 (UNI) A local court today convicted and sentenced two persons to undergo six months imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs three lakh in a case under the Copyright Act.
According to the prosecution, A Arokiyadas and Mohammed Mustaffa screened a new film 'Vettu Onnu Thundu Erandu', produced by actor Mansoor Ali Khan, in 1998 in a local cable TV channel.
Mr Khan preferred a complaint with the police here, following which the duo were arrested and a local court sentenced them in 2001 to undergo two years imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs five lakh.
They appealed against the verdict, and the case was dealt with now by Puducherry Second Additional District Judge Annamalai.
